Clumber Spaniel Köpek İsimleri

The breed takes its name from Clumber Park in Nottinghamshire, England, the vast estate of Henry Pelham-Clinton, 2nd Duke of Newcastle. In the late 18th century, the Duke bred and refined these heavy white spaniels to push through dense rhododendron and briars at a steady, methodical pace.

The Clumber is by far the largest and heaviest of all spaniel breeds, weighing up to 85 pounds. Unlike the frantic, fast-paced Cocker or Springer, the Clumber hunts with calm, deliberate power, earning the breed the title 'The Gentleman's Gun Dog'.

The best Clumber Spaniel names lean into their British nobility, massive stature, and sweet demeanor. Top male names include Churchill, Barnaby, Duke, Winston, and Sherwood. Top female names include Duchess, Clementine, Beatrice, Honey, and Charlotte. Lemon and Marmalade celebrate their coat markings.

Yes, Clumber Spaniels are relatively rare and classified as a vulnerable breed in the UK. While less common than Cockers or Springers, they enjoy a passionate following among families who love their calm indoor demeanor and soulful expressions.

Yes, Clumbers have loose flews (jowls) and will drool, especially after drinking water or watching food preparation. Their dense white coat sheds moderately year-round and requires regular brushing to prevent matting around the ears and feathers.

Male Clumber Spaniels typically weigh 70 to 85 pounds and stand 18 to 20 inches tall. Females weigh 55 to 70 pounds and stand 17 to 19 inches tall. They are long, low-slung, and remarkably heavy-boned for their height.

Clumber Spaniels are often described as 'sedate' indoors — they love sleeping on the sofa and lounging with family. However, outdoors they have excellent stamina and love long walks, tracking scents, and retrieving balls.

The Clumber Spaniel is predominantly white with lemon (light pale yellow) or orange (warm reddish-yellow) markings, particularly around the eyes, muzzle, ears, and base of the tail. Freckling on the muzzle and legs is common and cherished.

Yes, Clumber Spaniels are famously sweet, loyal, and gentle with children. They have a patient disposition and form deep, affectionate bonds with all family members.

Clumbers are intelligent but can possess a determined, independent streak. They respond best to positive reinforcement, gentle praise, and food rewards. Harsh methods are ineffective with this sensitive, dignified breed.
