The Shiba Inu is Japan's oldest and smallest native breed — an ancient spitz-type hunter whose ancestors arrived in Japan with early immigrants around 7,000 BC. Fox-inspired names like Kitsune (the Japanese fox spirit), Fox, Ginger, and Ember celebrate their striking vulpine appearance. Japanese warrior names like Ronin (masterless samurai), Shogun (military commander), Katana (sword), and Bushido (warrior's way) suit the bold, confident Shiba attitude. And Japanese food names — Miso, Mochi, Wasabi, Tofu, Nori, Sake — have become enormously popular for their fun factor.
